Legrand, one of the world’s leading electrical suppliers, has developed a new range of heavy duty, protective frames to deter vandals from damaging wiring devices installed in exposed, public and unsupervised spaces.

Robust and durable, the Soliroc range is designed for commercial premises such as sports venues, train stations, warehouses, schools, detention centres or medical facilities. It could also be considered for outdoor residential spaces such as swimming pool or barbeque areas.

The sleek design of Soliroc ensures that it is suited to urban spaces while it fulfils its role as a security guard for electrical fittings.

As a more attractive design solution, the metal alloy finish provides a strong resistance to scratches, graffiti and lighter flames.

The hardwearing material, referred to as a ZAMAK metal alloy and made from a combination of zinc, aluminium, magnesium and copper, can withstand powerful cleaning chemicals. It is also easy to wipe clean to keep the Soliroc units looking new.

To deny unauthorised access to wiring devices, curved edges make it difficult to gain a firm grasp of the protective frame and plugs can not be removed once installed. For additional security, there is also an option to have lockable flaps to cover the mechanisms.

Flexible and easy to install, each layer of the frame is snapped into place to create a covered module protected from natural elements and vandalism. All covered modules can withstand impacts of 20 joules (IK10 - the highest rating for impact resistance) - or the equivalent of a strong hammer blow - and are weatherproof (IP55).

Soliroc can also accommodate more than 50 Arteor mechanisms including switches, sockets, RCBOs, RJ sockets, HDMI and TV sockets.
