• Current 2012 Occupational Health and Safety and Electrical Safety obligations of persons conducting a business or undertaking. This includes employers, officers of that business or undertaking, workers, and other persons at the workplace.
• The importance of implementing due diligence with regard to Safety at the workplace. This includes the possible financial and criminal penalties if proven guilty of a breach of their obligations.
• Legal Requirements relating to working near Low Voltage energised (“Live Parts”). This includes the requirements for Exclusion Zones.
• The legal requirements with relation to Safety Observers.
• Legal Requirements in relation to working “LIVE”. This includes justifications to work “LIVE” as detailed in the Electrical Safety Legislation.
• If working “LIVE” can be justified under the current Electrical Safety Legislation then issues relating to what has to be implemented to prevent Electrical Shock, Electric Arcs, Electrical Arc Blasts, Fires caused by Electricity and Toxic Gasses caused by the Electrical Fires. The relative Sections of AS/NZS 4836 “Safe Working on Low Voltage Electrical Installations will be reference.
• Basic understanding of the Safety Categories of Test Equipment as outlined in the Australian Standards booklet “HB 187 -2006 Guide to Selecting a Safe Multimeter”.
• The importance of Safe Work Method Statements/ Job Safety Environmental Assessments which includes Risk Assessments and Control Measure to prevent injury and sickness to all persons at the workplace from electricity. This includes Tag Out and Lock Out requirements and proving conclusively de-energised.
• Understanding what could cause High Prospective Short Circuit Currents (Fault Currents) at large Low Voltage Transformer and Switchboards and the dangers these pose to all persons at the workplace. This includes insulation failure on cables.
• Short Video showing the destructive heat energy within an Electrical Arcing Fault of 10,000 Amps and the type of Personal Protective Equipment that is required to prevent burns any other injuries to persons. This includes reference to the relevant Sections of AS/NZS 4836 AS/NZS 4836 “Safe Working on Low Voltage Electrical Installations.
• Brief discussions on samples of Personal Protective Equipment that is available which is 
• outlined in AS/NZS 4836 AS/NZS 4836 “Safe Working on Low Voltage Electrical Installations.
• This includes (when acceptable) a supplier attending the training venue with their samples and 
• discussing the pros and cons and uses and testing of this Personal Protective Equipment.
• Basic understanding Fault Current Limiters, Circuit Breaker Cascading Systems and 
• Prospective Short Circuit Currents at Switchboards and k A ratings of Circuit Protective Devices.
• Reference to the relevant sections of Electrical Safety Code of Practice 2010 “Electrical Work”.
• Reference to relevant sections of Electrical Safety Code of Practice 2010 “Risk Management”.
