PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTING was recently commissioned to provide luminaires to complete an external lighting upgrade at Tennis Australia’s Melbourne Park venue in time for the 2012 Australian Tennis Open.

Melbourne Park’s tennis courts are undergoing a staged lighting refurbishment throughout 2011-12. This project involves the replacement of current light fittings with Spectra’s high performance ‘Tennis Ace’. The installation of Tennis Ace fixtures will provide a superior quality of light for this prestigious sports venue enabling players to compete in optimal conditions.
One of the senior lighting engineers on the project commented that the lighting of the courts at Tennis Australia was ‘more of a challenge than normal because the venue features extra wide courts in comparison with a standard court’s dimensions’. The Ace by Spectra was perfect for the project and was easily able to meet all the requirements that were mandated.
The Tennis Ace is an Australian-made fitting which provides an extremely precise asymmetric light control directing light only where it is needed. This level of control is an essential ingredient for modern sports venues. The Tennis Ace operates with “EYE lighting” brand metal halide lamps and is made from the highest quality of materials.
